Serums can be a really powerful tool when it comes to achieving beautiful skin. They contain active ingredients that penetrate directly into the skin, targeting specific concerns like ageing or pigmentation. But like always, it’s important to equip yourself with knowledge and and understanding of your own skin, so you can find solutions that are both appropriate and effective.
Diving deep into: Serums
Serums have become a regular part of more and more daily skincare routines in recent years. You may have purchased one yourself, though like many people, you have been overwhelmed by the different products that are out there, and may not actually know what a serum is or does for your skin.
Education is key to empowerment! So we’re here to break it down for you.

When do I use a serum?
Serums should always be applied after cleansing and before moisturising and are safe to use daily. There are not many demographics or skin types we wouldn’t recommend a serum for, but choosing the right serum for specific concerns is vital.
Which serum is right for me?
There are many serums out there on the market, but at MC, we have a few favourites for common skin concerns that we love sharing with our clients:
- For dry skin, we love Hydration Booster and De-Stress
- For acne prone skin, Niacinamide found in Multi B Plus is essential
- To fight the signs of ageing, SuperSerum+ is our superhero
- Feel dull? Meet AHA & BHA Exfoliant serum
It’s important to note that there is no one size fits all when it comes to skincare products. Changes in diet, weather and even mental health can impact your skin greatly. Reviewing and refining your skincare routine to reflect and complement your life (with the guidance of a professional) is the wisest approach and will give you the best chance of seeing what a real difference a serum can actually do for your skin.
One of the common factors between all high quality, cosmeceutical grade serums is that they’re not cheap! Their potent and active ingredients, along with specialised manufacturing technology, mean they do require a significant investment, which is another reason to make sure you’re choosing the right product for you.
